Natural Remedies for Asthma

Asthma and allergies and an inflammatory response of the immune system to dust, pollen or other allergenic factors. Reactions to these factors include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, hives, shortness of breath, lowered blood pressure, unusual perspiration, anaphylatic shock or even perspiration. There are many factors in the surrounding environment that trigger an allergic response but anxiety, exercise or humid weather can also cause an asthma attack.

Asthma has become more and more frequent among children because the contaminated air we breathe every day. Conventional western medicine has done little to help people with asthma. It uses inflammatory medications, inhalers, steroids and broncho-dilators to cause only a temporary effect. On the other hand, herbs and other natural remedies reduce the asthma attacks and strengthen the lungs.

Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12are recommended supplements in reducing the inflammation of the lungs.  Vitamin C is used for a better oxygenation, to fight infection and also reduce swelling.  As a herbal remedy, ginkgo biloba has been shown to reduce the frequency of asthma attacks. Mullein oil is used to fight respiratory congestion, while pao d'arco is a natural alternative for reducing inflammation.

If exercise cause you asthma attacks, reduce the salt intake and take 2,000 mg. of Vitamin C one hour before your workout. Salmon and salmon oil is recommended for a healthy diet and keep in mind that caffeine dilates the bronchial airways.
