Natural Remedies for Diarrhea
Diarrhea is an increase in the wateriness or frequency of the bowel movements, often accompanied by stomach cramps and gas. The main causes for this disease are overeating or eating the wrong food, fermentation, irritability, antibiotic drugs or the intake of laxatives. This can be also caused by parasites, germs, virus or bacteria. It depletes the body of essential minerals like calcium, magnesium or sodium, leaving your body weak and less resistant to stress.
Diarrhea can be caused by other underlying diseases like lactose or gluten intolerance, celiac disease, niacin or follic acid deficiency, or allergies to common foods. This is called chronic diarrhea and must be dealt with by a health care practitioner. Certain organic diseases affecting the intestines may also lead to diarrhea.
One of the most effective home treatments is butterscotch, that fights against dangerous intestinal flora. Carrot soup is another natural remedy, which brings the body the needed sodium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and combats dehydration. Ginger is useful is diarrhea is produced by indigestion. It should be taken with a crystal of rock salt, in a teaspoon, combined with a small piece of jaggery.
Mint juice is also beneficial against the disease; combined with a teaspoon of lemon juice and honey gives excellent results. Mango seeds and sesame seeds are also recommended in treating the disease. A dose of about one and a half to two grams of mango seeds should be taken twice a day. Roasted sesame seeds should be taken with half a cup of boiled goat's milk three times daily for six days .
